Fritz West
Fritz West (Cynthia), Bass
Founder, Wisconsin GOSPELLERS
2008, 2012, 2016 GOSPELLERS Tour Choir
An ordained UCC minister, Fritz founded The Wisconsin Gospellers in 2006 and now serves on committees for the German partnership, the working group in the Wisconsin Conference and the Forum with national UCC. An avid historian writing and working in the area of the worship of the church, he sees in this gospel ministry the potential for renewal of the church and its worship.
After 35 years of ministry, the last 20 years in the Wisconsin Conference, he retired in 2007 with his wife Cynthia to their hobby farm in Marine on St. Croix, Minnesota, where he enjoys woodworking, working in his writing studio, playing the piano, walking with his lab Leo, and cooking. Fritz has a passion for travel—in the states, abroad, and by canoe in the Canadian wilderness. |
Martin Ulrich
Martin Ulrich, Tenor
GOSPELLERS Music Director
2008, 2012, 2016 GOSPELLERS Tour Choir
Martin is Associate Professor of German and/or Music at Lakeland College, sort of retired, and sort of not, and is Music Director at First Congregational Church in Sheboygan.
He grew up in Chicago, but also Wisconsin, sort of German and sort of American, as the son of a German-American mother and an American-German father, educated at Lakeland, Chicago, or Tübingen.
Martin has directed the Lakeland College Music Camp, served as chairman of the Creative Arts Division, organized tours and musical exchanges for American and German schools, played oboe in the Sheboygan Symphony, and has directed and performed in various bands and choirs, including of all things a German choir in Tokyo— while teaching for Lakeland College Japan.
He finds it hard to sit still.

Sue Loomer
Sue Loomer (Norm), Alto
GOSPELLERS Chaplain
2012, 2016, 2017 GOSPELLERS Tour Choir
After college and marriage I spent many years at home with our sons. Then I taught third and fifth grade for a total of 20 years.
Since my retirement Norm and I have done a bit of traveling. We enjoy cruising and have now visited each of the hemispheres of the world. Italy and Norway are two of my favorite countries.
Some of my other interests are reading, tennis, and writing projects
I started singing in our high school church choir and continued in school choirs, college choir, and an adult college/community choir. All this led me to gospel music, which sings to my heart and reaches me as probably no other music has. Being part of a gospel choir is a true blessing to me.
